Evaluation of this platform.

Anthony G. Radzimoski

Please take some time to evaluate this group site.

Re: Evaluation of this platform.

Charlie Stephens

Testing, I like it so far. Very organized, and updated (compared to Yahoo)

I need to clean up the message moderation. Any delay right now is purely a settings issue. It’s generally a quick turnaround on message exchange.

I think Groups.io would prove to be the smoothest transition for me, requiring no new app and supporting my no-email preference and allowing others to choose a digest, and the rest to just change the address for sending. The founder is getting hammered with requests for new groups right now, but the free tier looks like it would accommodate most everything that we did before (while requiring a limit to the attachments). I do believe that transfer of the archive is something only done for a pay tier, though.

So far, the only issue I have is with the Message History area on the front page; I cannot see anything past September without swiping left or turning my device sideways (iPhone 7). A minor annoyance, but seems easier to use than Y! Groups, and the format pretty closely replicates Y! Groups.. Since I would be using it almost exclusively on the iPhone, I would just have to remember to swipe.

Pohick Library and other Library info

Anthony G. Radzimoski

Other than the initial limited availability of chairs and tables, is there any feedback on the Pohick Library from last weekend? Specifically, why should we never go there again?

Are there any major objections and valid reasons why we should not have a meeting at the Great Falls library?

As a reminder, Fairfax county will begin tax services at many library locations beginning in January.
This will make things difficult to schedule again, and you should expect unpopular locations to be the only option.
Sponsored organizations will be shifted to other locations which makes our options less than they already are.

Chantilly library has specifically told me that we will not be approved for meetings because we are not a 501.c organization.

I was happy with Pohick.

Anthony,

I thought Pohick Regional was very congenial: decent room size, windows, convenient access, local eating.

I have no objection to Great Falls.

Thank you for taking on this responsibility.

Pohick wasn’t bad. It wasn’t the largest but we didn’t have a large turnout so it happened to be fine. It will just be crowded if we get a large turnout.

I have no objections to Pohick. They were very accommodating to us.

I also have no objections to Great Falls.

Re: Pohick Library and other Library info

Magnus Lauglo

Pohick seemed fine to me last weekend. A little on the small side, but that worked when we had a smaller turnout.

Bricklink has been sold to LEGO

Abraham Friedman

Sadly, Bricklink has been bought up by LEGO and changes are coming. Based on the stupid stuff that LEGO has been doing lately, I’m not holding much hope that this will mean anything good for the fans. LEGO has repeatedly said that we are an insignificant market for them (despite the $800 sets that I’m sure a lot of kids are buying) so just what advantages will this bring to us now that LEGO has a major control in both the primary and secondary markets?

Todd-
To make it official, Bret absolutely needs the person's name, email, and
age. Apparently those are the rules.
