Hello All!

My name is John Stelmack and I am an Adult Fan of LEGO. I began my love of LEGO as a young lad in the 1970s with several sets. I stored them all away as a young adult and pulled them out for my son to play with 15 years ago. I funded his enjoyment of LEGO through his mid teens and then caught the bug again myself four years ago. I fully dove back into the hobby and have grown my collection emmensely since then. I belong to several AFOL Facebook groups, but have been looking for local groups. I've made a few international AFOL friends through them.

I heard about LUG groups while visiting the Potomac Mills store this weekend, which landed me here. I'm looking forward to seeing what this group is about and participating as my availability allows. I currently work full time and volunteer at the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Dpeartment and Rescue Squad, where I've been a member for the past 19 years.

I can coordinate a call with them, to see what they are looking for and see if it’s reasonable.   Going to shoot for something in the next few days, via Zoom.

The idea sounds interesting, but I’d be concerned about when they’d want this to be at the Watergate, how much time the project would take, and if their budget is reasonable for what they want.

If anyone is planning to have a call with them, I’d be willing to sit in on the call, just to help with planning and managing expectations.   I’m definitely not one of the most experienced LUG members in this group, but I do a lot of project management in my civilian job, and can at least help ask the right questions.

I have the arrival/parking/etc info from the museum.  Please see below.  Note, our area is inside.  If you're bringing kids, and did not get tickets for them, it sounds like they'll be able to do the inside the museum activities, but not outdoor.

We are allowed to enter and setup as early as 8am.  I plan to arrive between 9 and 9:30, as I have a long drive to get there.  I'm just bringing a few small things to fill gaps in the display.

The "Brick pit" area for the play brick is marked as number one on the interior map.  Our display area is number 2.


From the Museum:
