Zoom Meeting for May 9, 2020 12PM-2PM ET

Anthony G. Radzimoski

For those that would like to participate, I have configured a Zoom meeting for this coming Saturday from 12PM-2PM ET.

You can retrieve the connection information on Facebook here:
https://www.facebook.com/events/2788318867903824/
Or, it will be sent to you Saturday morning if you register here:
https://www.eventbrite.com/d/online/wamalug/

- The connection settings will not be published in the public domain.
- There is no need to use the Eventbrite link if you are in the Facebook Group.  It is the same information.  The settings are currently posted on Facebook.
- If you are not in the Facebook Group and maybe might possibly think you could potentially want to participate, please register on Eventbrite before Friday.
- I have turned on the dial-in option if you want to participate via audio only.
- Lurkers are welcome, but if everyone chooses to lurk it will become pointless.
- The regular and occasional Wamalug family should all feel welcome in attending.

Last month we had about a dozen participants with some great show-and-tell on sorting and storing practices.

As previously stated, no one should feel obligated to participate.

I am taking their participation in today's video conference as satisfying the requirement for attending a third meeting and have entered their names for next month's Wamalug Member List: Lee Anne Murrell, Amber Niblock, and Daniel Pikora.

Glad to hear that this one "counts" - it's sure taken me long enough to qualify for a member number. I'd be curious to know if someone else has more years between participating in their first WAMALUG show and actually qualifying.

I had a few things I wanted to revisit after last week's meeting. Having just one conversation run through the meeting instead of the usual pockets of conversation makes it a little difficult to bring up follow-up points. Yes, my e-mail backlog is bad enough that I'm just getting to this now.

- Someone asked about about an "adventure theme" early in the meeting. I don't believe she was asking about BrickFair's theme (dinosaurs) - it sounded to me like she was looking for details on the Adventurer's Labyrinth collaboration. You can start in the Flickr discussion forum for the very loose "standard" on size/height: https://www.flickr.com/groups/mummylabyrinth/discuss/72157631488540856/ and explore the Flickr group for further inspiration from there: https://www.flickr.com/groups/mummylabyrinth/pool/ - the transition from the specifically Egyptian-inspired "Pharaoh's Labyrinth" to the more general "Adventurer's Labyrinth" hasn't been smooth so most of what's available to see is still mummies/pyramids/etc. You can get broader ideas from the Adventurers series of sets (see https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Adventurers ) and there are videos of some of our previous displays on YouTube too (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODOyGRkBsGw and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM2J4Y4Whfc ). We usually have several contributors from WAMALUG (and beyond) participate in the labyrinth at BrickFair and Scouting for Bricks.

- Near the end of the meeting, I mentioned the reminder from LEGO that certain rules from the past aren't in effect this year (so we shouldn't worry about those previous rules impacting LUGs during the pandemic). I believe that the initial changes in requirements weren't published publicly, but that reminder is here for anyone interested or concerned: https://lan.lego.com/news/overview/encouragement-to-not-meet-in-person-r255/
